Has anyone used Astropad recently? If it does what it says it should do, could this be a poor artist's alternative to a Cintiq? I'm definitely interested in trying it out.
I haven't used it, but I've heard good things about it, so if you have an iPad Pro, I'd say it's worth a try.
For someone who doesn't have the hardware yet, I think the best alternative to a Cintiq is the MS Surface, which starts in the same price range, and gets you a self-contained system that runs CSP (or any other Windows apps) natively.
My main computer is a Mac, but a single license of CSP runs on both MacOS and Windows, and I have the free Adobe CS2 installed on my Windows tablet for when I need that. Dropbox synchs everything I'm working on between them.
That is pretty crafty! Given some other things that I am going to need down the line (which run only in a PC environment) I may have to seriously consider that!
With shipping and taxes to México it was close to 300.
Best investment for my work i've done in a long time.
It lacks the viewing angles of a cintiq, but Manga Studio works better, the pressure is flawless.
The driver has issues with my version of Photoshop (CS2) but fiddling with the settings and reeboting the driver fixes that. That's a little bit annoying to be honest but it makes my full transition to MS a must.
I installed the Huion 19 drivers and they work fine.
I've since figured out what I did wrong, by the by: I had the brush size options set to display in millimetres rather than pixels. But perhaps I should not have seen that as a mistake?
I caught one of Graphixly's webinars today. This one was about the new features available with v.1.10.5: webtoons, importing of Photoshop brushes, timelapse recording of your work as you draw, colour jitter and some of the new brush settings available to EX users. I'll post a link once Graphixly's uploaded the footage.
